Ducab MarineBICC Low Voltage Offshore & Shipboard Cables are heavy-duty, marine-grade power and control cables specifically engineered for demanding offshore oil and gas platforms, FPSO vessels, commercial ships, and naval applications. Designed to withstand harsh marine environments, these cables feature high-conductivity tinned or plain copper conductors, halogen-free cross-linked insulation, tinned copper wire braid (TCWB) armor for electromagnetic screening and mechanical protection, and mud/oil-resistant SHF2 outer sheathing.
Technical Features
High Corrosion Resistance: Features high-purity tinned plain annealed flexible copper conductors designed to resist saltwater oxidation and marine atmospheric corrosion.
Halogen-Free Insulation: Constructed with Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) or High-Modulus Ethylene Propylene Rubber (HEPR) insulation, delivering high current-carrying capacity up to +90°C.
Electromagnetic Compatibility & Armoring: Built with a dense Tinned Copper Wire Braid (TCWB) armor that provides excellent mechanical strength against impact and chafing while serving as an effective screen against electromagnetic interference (EMI).
Mud and Hydrocarbon Resistance: Encased in a heavy-duty SHF2 or SHF MUD elastomeric outer sheath specially formulated to withstand exposure to drilling muds, aliphatic hydrocarbons, lubricants, and marine oils.
Fire Safety & Low Smoke Properties: Meets international flame-retardant (IEC 60332-3) and low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) standards to prevent toxic gas emissions and maintain clear vision during emergency shipboard evacuations.
Applications
Offshore Oil & Gas Platforms: Installed on fixed platforms, jack-up rigs, FPSOs, and drillships for main power distribution, control systems, and lighting networks.
Commercial Marine & Naval Vessels: Deployed across merchant ships, cargo vessels, passenger ferries, and naval frigates in restricted engine room spaces and weather-exposed decks.
Port Infrastructure & Coastal Facilities: Suitable for shipyard installations, marine cranes, dockside loading equipment, and coastal industrial plants exposed to high humidity and salt spray.
Buyer Guidance
Verify Classification Society Approvals: Ensure the cable meets required marine type-approvals from major international classification societies (such as ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register, or Bureau Veritas) for your vessel or platform registry.
Select SHF2 vs. MUD Resistant Sheathing: Choose standard SHF2 cross-linked sheathing for general shipboard power and control runs, or upgrade to SHF MUD compliant options if cables will be exposed to synthetic drilling fluids on offshore rigs.
Consider Armoring Needs: Select TCWB armored options when physical protection against abrasion and EMC screening is necessary; choose unarmored variants for light-duty, well-protected interior vessel wiring.
